Started a drawing of my dog, Cara (deceased). I find black dogs difficult to portray and don’t know how successful this will turn out to be.

Polychromos pencils on Bristol Board. Approx. 8” x 6”.

Still work to do.

I also think it looks good so far. My only suggestion (which you are probably in the process of doing) is to start letting the texture build up. You have a beautiful little monster by the way.

On 7th Seotember Peggy (Anniecanjump) gave a good tutorial on “How to draw black fur”. It is about 4 pages back on my iPad. You should find it if you do a search. I think your dog is a bit browner than the one Peggy did, but lots of good info in her WIP.
