Re: Sketchbook Pages

I don't know about the others but a sketch book is my main thing in art. Mostly people quick portraits and caricature studies. I believe without the constant use of a sketchbook I would be lost. My Ideas come as I am drawing most of the times I try not to copy from photos taken by others. I think the two most important things for the artist is the imagination and the ability to draw, everything else is secondary.

Great idea for posting regular ol' sketches! I will dig some out and post soon. I like the different styles of sketching.

Re: Sketchbook Pages

Some recent-ish sketchbook fun...

Does doodling on my skin count? This is henna btw, completely harmless (and addictive!).

Props for the henna. That is cool stuff.

Drawing of Ganesha. Hindu god for those who don't know. I've got some obsession with him.

Lovely drawing of Ganesha, your 'obsession' comes through as a beautiful thing!

Re: Sketchbook Pages

Hi Grantfield,

Does the henna fade away as you wash it?? How long does it stay on your skin?? This is absolutely beautiful!

Re: Sketchbook Pages

Hi Godsartist7,
Henna dye is absorbed into the upper layers of the skin. As such it will gradually fade as the skin naturally exfoliates - anywhere from one week to three weeks and it can vary widely from person to person. Washing and anything else that is exfoliating will speed up the process of course. My previous picture posted shows the henna paste still on the skin. I usually leave it on from a few hours to overnight depending on what I am doing. When the paste is washed off the dye in your skin will initially look orange like this:

Over the course of a few days it will oxidize and the colour will shift to a red-brown colour like this:

Wherever the skin is thicker, like the palm of your hand or the sole of you foot, it will absorb more dye in comparison to other areas of the body.

Thank you!

From doodles to canvas....let's see your sketch book!

I just recently did a blog post about some of my doodles that turned into paintings. After getting a good response, I thought it would be fun to see some other peoples doodles and sketch books. Here's what I did:

Do you have some sketches to share? I wanna see 'em!
