I really should have sketched this out in detail before I started but I’m not working from any particular reference photos, just winging it and now I kind of regret that, but I also learn this way. Please feel free to offer constructive criticism. (More details on my blog.)
1. Blocked in using acrylic on 16″x20″ canvas. The rock was textured with mastic first.
2. First layer in oils…will have to wait for it to dry now. I ALWAYS go too heavy with the oils.

Thanks for this. I will either try to fix it or start over.

So long, and thanks ...
September 20, 2019 at 3:50 am #878642The colours are lovely. They really glow. It is nice to see your progress through this painting. Good effort.

My Blog/WIP's and Tips: Chammi's Art EscapadesSeptember 28, 2019 at 4:23 pm #878648Thanks Kay and Chammi – encouragement always appreciated. While the paint’s been drying I thought I would do some lion studies with some new watercolour pencils and figure out how I’m going to repair or redo this @#$% awful painting. It’s always a learning process for me. Skipping the sketch is often (but not always) a bad idea for me……or maybe I just like doing things backwards!
