Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster

First flown in 1942 the XB-42 was built as a fast bomber. Two V12 engines were located in the fuselage with a contra- rotating pusher props. As fast as a Mosquito, and able to carry twice the load.
The Douglas was just too late with the introduction of jets. Two prototypes were built. The first having two cockpits.

You do pick some interesting subjects Gray. Again, this one is really nicely done. That is such an incredibly clean design.

That is another incredible piece of work, this looks a nice aircraft as well. Bits of Mossie, Canberra.

Re: Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster

Thanks D'Arcy, Trumper. It was a good fast aircraft, just a little too late to the party.

Re: Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster

You wouldn't happen to have the YRB-49 in your pipeline by any chance?

Re: Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster

Neil, that time period was full of creative designs. Many were never put into production.
Lester, I don't at the moment, but it was certainly an interesting design.
