Hi
This was posted on the Animal & Wildlife forum.
Mandarin ducks symbolise enduring love, as they mate for life. The colorful male is very interested in the female which is more subtle brown tones (trust the ladies to be more subtle than the gents). For me the Lotus represents something precious. Thich Nhat Hanh points out that the Lotus grows in mud, yet has a beautiful fragrant flower that grows up above the water and mud. The mud of suffering and ugliness in life can become the motivator , indeed even necessary “nutrient” out of which we can grow a life of mindfulness and beauty, and of course love.
Watercolour, gouache and ink.
As long as there is light, I will paint it.
