Happy new year!

Yes, I saw Howard's puppy. Totally has the "I'm cute so you can't stay mad at me" look.

I hope everyone had a good new year's eve. We did our usual, go to a hotel that's an hour away and stay a couple of nights with friends. Swim in the pool, do a little shopping, eat lots. The hotel restaurant always does a special supper and this year I had lobster stuffed chicken.

Happy new year!

Stayed in this year (as usual) with my girlfriend, my little rats, and the Twilight Zone marathon. Made prime ribeye steaks (splurged for them, but they looked so good at the butcher's) with cauliflower mash and green beans....then I caught some virus and was in bed all day yesterday and will probably be leaving work early today after I take care of a couple administrative things at the office. Itching to paint.

Read an interesting article today about Teddy Roosevelt. He is responsible for removing the “u” from colour, favour and labour, etc. he felt that English needed to be simplified.
Betty has figured out the stairs to the bed. She is going to be a pistol.

Huh? Sounds like TR. He was quite the reader - nearly a book a day - and a prolific writer. And he remembered details from nearly everything he read!

He is remembered for his legendary bravado, but he was a keen intellect.

To bad Teddy wasn’t ‘King Teddy’.....that way Maureen could utilize the simple ‘color’ instead of the complex ‘colour’...what a relief that would have been!...

Re: Quick-Dry-Cafe: New Year, New Month and New Arrival .....

Illnesses are going around. I caught a viral infection that turned to a bacterial infection in the sinuses. I have a clinician in the lab at the moment and we were discussing my symptoms. He was saying that what i had was bad and I needed to get it seen to. Then at the end of yesterday I mentioned that I was getting a sore throat and his response was that what i had was very bad and I should consider visiting the emergency room. I am thinking am I about to die all in the space of a few hours? Anyway now on antibiotics and took the day off work due to a fever.

Re: Quick-Dry-Cafe: New Year, New Month and New Arrival .....

Complex drawing C - nice!
Do get well soon though ( C and Ken) - too many viruses and bacterial infections around here too.

I'm feeling very lethargic - lack of sleep probably - no fun lying awake and the brain thinking of everything and nothing! Somewhere around 3am it was trying to tell me how to use the DVD player because last week I tried and couldn't get it to work

Glad to get the deccies away for another year and the house back to normal - looks quite bare now!

With the possibility of committing a little 'lèse-majesté' against TR - maybe it's cos he could never remember when to use the 'u', and when not to, that he decided to remove it!!!!

Re: Quick-Dry-Cafe: New Year, New Month and New Arrival .....

Got back from Japan yesterday. Ten days in Tokyo over the holidays to visit our son who is determined to settle in there. Blue skies the whole time, but quite cold for a lot of it. Most museums and galleries were closed for much of the holiday season. They really shut down over there to give people time off to be with their families. Visited the wonderful Edo Tokyo Museum on our last day which contains recreations of houses and apartments from the past. Such small living spaces people had, and in many cases still do. They also had detailed miniature dioramas of parts of the old city. New Years Day we hit 3 of the major temples. Huge crowds of people. The crowds were so big at one temple we didn't even get near it.

We never had decorations up so came home to a "clean" house. It has been raining massively here for 10 days, so we have our backyard pond back, but no water in the house. Lots of people on Vancouver Island lost power over Christmas. I'm glad we missed all that.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas/New Year.

Maureen...what do you need the ‘u’ for in ‘color’?....it doesn’t make pink more pink, red, more red, yellow, more yellow.....the only place you need a u in a color is in ‘blue’....with out the ‘u’ could you imagine calling someone ‘ble’ ?....

Re: Quick-Dry-Cafe: New Year, New Month and New Arrival .....

Take care of yourself Carol. And nice drawing.

My deccies are still up. Maybe Monday or Tuesday I'll start taking them down. The holidays went by so fast, just a couple more days and we have school nights again. Tried to prepare by getting up earlier this morning.

Welcome home Colin.

Maybe if we start calling him ble he'll stop complaining about our u.

Here are some piccies of my deccies.

As usual I'm still trying to do some Christmas crafts in January. My first try at making a kaleidoscope cane with polymer. I put the rickrack there to see how it would look, I think I will add it after it's baked. I want to do some more of this technique before I move on to other things.
