Misty Forest

Digital, 233×377 pixels, exactly 8 colors

Here’s some pixel art I made today of a fox (still undecided on the name) exploring a misty forest. When I first started I wasn’t planning on it being like this, but I’ve seen similar styles before and part way through thought I’d try it. I really like how it came out. Kind of like a woodblock print.

If you follow me on twitter I was posting occasional work in progress views of this as I worked on it today. Also once I was finished I posted a step by step of this being made on my blog if you're interested.

Re: Misty Forest

Well done!

One suggestion, if you use the brown on the ground below the fox it would give more of the effect of the glow of the light.

Re: Misty Forest

I changed the style of the mist at the bottom to have fewer curves. The large curves before had too much roughness from the edges of the pixels, so this avoids that problem while maintaining only 8 color. If I were to add anti-aliasing to those curves then I'd have to do so everywhere else too, and I'd end up with way more than just 8 colors.
