El Chupacabra on Night of the Blood Moon

Just having fun, not my usual subject. "Chupacabra on the Night of the Blood Moon". This was painted from a photograph I took of Phylis Canion's taxidermy preserved Chupacabra. DNA tests show it to be a cross between a wolf and a coyote. The original photo was taken in a brightly-lit classroom so I had to take some artistic license to imagine it at night. Guess I should call this multi-media because I used Golden Open acrylics plus gold leaf for the moon and copper mica powder for the edge of the moon. Comments welcome.

We have a growing population of coywolves around our area. At night, they are rather scary, even though they're mostly very shy. It's just their size, I think, and the fact that they are so obviously NOT a dog! I love your rendition, Linda, and the setting you've put him in.

Can you post a photo of the taxi specimen, Linda, as I'd love to see it.

I'm in New England. I think I read that the further north you go, the more of the cross-breeds you run into. Most of the time, wolves are likely to eat coyotes, but during the breeding season, occasionally a male wolf will mate with a female coyote. Not certain if it also happens the other way around or not. But the offspring are fertile, so the blending goes on and on. Dog is also thrown into the mix. Thanks for that link, very interesting to read. Mostly we have coyotes here and even in town people lose small dogs and kittens.
