I agree with the others on how nice your box looks now. It was well-worth the effort.
Those metal handles look to be original and the marking on them appears to be the emblem for Stanley Works "sweatheart", which was used during the period between 1920 to 1935. That trunk could be over 80 years old or more.

Great box! I love the old metalwork on it. So, what will you do with it now?
It would be a good wood box near a wood stove, or you could line it with cedar and use it for a blanket box. You could make it into a coffee table with storage. Lots of uses for it. I would definitely put it in a place where it could be seen. It's beautiful! It would look good on a covered/enclosed porch with some other antiques and wicker furniture.
