Re: May Plant Parade

Both lilacs versions are from the same ref but so different in their interpretations. Love them both Viv and Christel!

Mine is 3.75x2.75 watercolor, a crop of Lil's clay pot of violets, painted entirely with #1 rigger/script liner and mixed purples:

Re: May Plant Parade

Viv & Christel - both lovely interpretations of the lilacs! Christel, that background color really sets off those beautiful purples.
Elsaquatic, beautiful crocus!
Kay, your mini-masterpiece is splendid- such beautiful color bleeds!

I chose the pansies, one of my favorite flowers! This is 4x6, watercolor pencils and ink.
But the ink wasn't as water-resistant as I'd hoped for (it smudged a bit)

Re: May Plant Parade

Zelda, your crocuses are very well painted, and you should be proud of this!

Pat, your pansies using wc pencils and ink is so nicely done, and crisp colors!

EP, ink/inktense go together well with each one of these floral specimens!

Imelda, your lilacs in the blue pitcher are soft, delicate, and dreamy!

Vivien and Christel: Same subject and two totally different paintings. Both lovely.
Zelda: Pretty bunch of crocuses. Very fresh painting.
Kay: Love the tones and am amazed you can paint that small.
Pat: Happy little faces. Nice work.
EP: Nice collection of this months flowers. I agree it would make a great card.
Rundun: Beautiful. Clever way of handling the lilacs.

Re: May Plant Parade

Viv - very pretty lilacs in the sun - lovely colours.

Christel - well painted, good flower forms and lovely jug!

Zelda - such pretty shades for the crocuses catching the sun.

Kay - a delightful mini - beautifully done!

Pat - I like this treatment of the pansies - if only ink would bleed where you want it to!! - but it hasn't spoilt anything!

EP - that's a lovely page of delicate paintings - wonder how much they'd change with water added?

Imelda - a lovely Impressionistic painting of the lilacs and I love the way you've treated the jug.

Lots of very pretty purples this month!

Mine is in the next post ................

Re: May Plant Parade

I chose the Japanese anemones because I also grow them, and tho' they can get out of hand, they always put on a good show in the garden!

This is only A5 size (about 7x5") and took an hour - I bought some Arteza Brush Pens - 48 lovely colours of water-based inks so wanted to try them - even though I normally don't like using a brush pen (must be crazy!) ... anyway, they've a very fine point and I found it best to paint dry into wet - the inks soak in quickly on dry paper and won't budge!
