Hi my friends and fellow painting enthusiasts,
This first painting is the last painting I did last year.
The second painting is one in did way back in 04′. I had to touch up the dog it looked old and tired instead of young and energetic. Lol
The first is 6×8″ oil on canvas. The second is 20×16″ acrylic on canvas board.
TIA,

A Painter's QuestJanuary 24, 2019 at 8:30 pm #768968Donald, I really enjoy seeing the old and the new side-by-side! It’s so interesting to see how we progress as artists, isn’t it? Love the scene with the dog – there’s a sense of story and action to it, and the colors are lovely. The new one is packed with drama and powerful light. Love them both! Thanks for sharing!

January 24, 2019 at 10:08 pm #768963Thanks Jenna! I love bright colors. Probably because I’m partially color blind. Ever seen any of Mikki Senkariks art? I appreciate her use of grayed and bright colors.

Her browns are greyed down to allow a contrast to her bright pure colors.
She inspires me to add more pure color in my art.

Thanks! I do love to paint. If I have a painting in mind, I can’t wait to get started on it. Each one is an adventure and I learn more about painting. I’m never as good as I want to be, but I always try to do the best I can with what skills I’ve got.Donald
