Thank you! A client asked me to paint "A Wolf" as a gift for a friend. I thought, "Oh, God please not a Wolf Howling At The Moon kinda painting!!" Thankfully he said, "I trust your judgement!" He's my fav client now. 🤣

Awesome! I love your choice in the wolf's position, and I like your thoughts behind the reasoning. So well done all-around.

Re: Winter Hunt, a recent commission.

Thank you all so much!

I'll get a high res photo and do some zooming in on the fur, Alan.

Re: Winter Hunt, a recent commission.

Here are a few close-ups of the work done on her fur.

The legs and paws were the most difficult to get looking right, but ironically turned out to be my favorite parts.

Re: Winter Hunt, a recent commission.

Magnificent. I can't find a matching reference photo online, so I presume you found the image elsewhere. Or you took the shot yourself. Or you compiled various images into one. Or you have a pet wolf who is particularly good at holding a pose.

Whatever method you used, the end result deserves applause. You got a remarkable amount of detail into a small space.

Did you work from a grisaille, or did you simply go straight into color?
