Thanks John and Jenna! The fish remains a draft concept but I will be going back to it now and then and hope to improve it further

#18 Sisterly Love (WDE Challenge)
9x12 90lbs paper, watercolour pencil

Still figuring out these wc pencils. I use the wc pencils same way as I sketch. There's now more control over the colours but theres still too much blue, provide little white space and too much paint in general. The enhanced image seems better to me and that leads to my above conclusion.

Original Image

Enhanced Image

#19: WIP Study of the Basset Hound (from RIL)
My favourite mascot of Hush Puppies. Homework for a basset project that I have in mind.

9x12 inch, 2B for now.

Sometimes it's relaxing to just let the pencil do the work. Pretty coarse but I quite like it. WIP, to be continued.

Re: Coaltip's SketchBook 2014

Thanks for posting entire series of pics to demonstrate your gradual progress on each piece. It's very helpful to me as a beginner to gain insight into how other people might go about all this.

Somehow I had missed the basset hound's emergence in your thread. I really like him! He has a very doggy texture and dimensionality, with all his knuckles, jowls, and ears.

Lots of cool stuff here. Your Eagle, Chickadee and Lion Fish are really great. I must admit I'm a really big fan of the stylized stuff like fish 15 and 17 and the awesome oriental Dragon.

Re: Coaltip's SketchBook 2014

Thanks Talisman! Other than the fishes, the others that you choose are also my favourites for this year. The fishes needs a lot more work.

Hi Luicre and Jenna! Glad that you enjoy it! The lionfish image and subject deserve quite a lot of credit. I am both excited and stressed up when attempting.

Hi Tangleweeds, thank you! I have provide another update to the basset hound. It is likely still in WIP status and likely to be bring over to 2015 or beyond (hopefully not). It it is now a step closer to what I have in mind. Do continue to post what you have done.

With 2014 ending in a week, this sketchbook 2014 is closing down. Hope you will enjoy the 2015 sketches! Disclaimer: you are likely to expect bad and good stuffs in it.

#19, 2B, charcoal, "likely" still WIP

I loved all of your in process pics. This thread was fun. I really liked your scary dog because you captured the personality and the intelligence so well. Then I like your wierd fishes, those were great. There was a lot that I liked but just pointing out my favs - honorable mention would be that rockin' lionfish!
