Digital framing for your art

What app do you use to frame your art?
I think it looks much better when framed, so I am looking for options. Most of programs offer just mask frames, but I am more interested in those that look like real ones.
So far the only program I found is ImageFramer, and I pretty happy with it, but perhaps anybody knows something else?

Re: Digital framing for your art

I use the border and frame tool in Paintshop Pro to create a mount and add a frame.

The only problem is if the picture isn't square the frame with is not even. In that case I use borders of different colours and widths. I add shadows to the top left of the frame and mount.

I make picture frames from scratch in Inkscape:

I've made a few frames for free download:

The border looks great Doug, please tell me why you do the frame only on the top and left, not on the other sides? Thanks

I try to add a shadow to the mount and frame assuming the light is top left to add depth. In this case I forgot the frame inner shadows.

Cool. So you don't have a real physical mount? You just add the frame in photoshop to give the appearance of a mount?

Not in this case. I first use the Borders tool in Paintshop pro to add a white border then I use the frame tool to add a suitable frame outside the mount. I then select a grey pen and using the line tool I add shadows to the mount and frame to add depth.

PS I now added a slight shadow to the frame.

smart! i'm gonna copy this. in the frame you posted first there's a vague mount line on the right and bottom. is that intentional?

I have a feeling I added that manually.

Re: Digital framing for your art

In Paintshop Pro, the picture frames menu option also includes mounts. I add a mount, then a selected frame. I think however you have to download the frames separately from Corel. (free) This is a scan of a physical print, to which I have added the mount and frame digitally. I do this to list them in my Etsy shop to give buyers an idea of how they will look without having to go to the expense of mounting and framing.
