A few years ago I decided to try and create, write, and illustrate a short story to share with others. Rather than use a publisher which would be expensive I begin by self-publishing the story in the form of greeting cards. I created a small data base of 50 folks that knew, used a local printer to produce the cards in batches, and begin mailing them out. I had just finished mailing out the 3rd edition in the illustrated story when a series of health issues in my family derailed me. This is a scan of the cover and interior of the 1st edition of the unfinished story. The cover is from a watercolor and the inside stampings were from rubber stamps that I managed to carve. Hopefully I can find the creative juices to resume it.:)

June 29, 2019 at 2:08 pm #847108Thank you Kay, for the very encouraging words, and like all of us kind words mean a lot. I have 3 more illustrations started, but that particular creative wind is not filling my sails, just yet. On the other hand, I have picked up the camera again, so maybe that story illustration wind will blow again soon.:)

She never seemed shattered; to me, she was a breathtaking mosaic of the battles she had won. - Matt BakerJuly 8, 2019 at 10:13 am #847107It’s delightful! Hopefully your camera explorations will get all of your creativity flowing again
July 9, 2019 at 1:36 pm #847109Thank you for the kind words of encouragement, Cyndi. We never know where a road may lead us. As luck would have it I was recently given a large trove of matboards to make use of. They are for the most part cut-offs of full sheets, but that is better for me as I am usually not matting very large photos or paintings. I’ve spent the last couple of days sorting the some 200 or so by colors.:)
