Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! September 2017

I had a brain freeze last night. Had all my stuff all laid out and sketches and I just couldn't get it together.

So since I haven't used colored pencils in a long time. I did this to get my brain cells moving. What do you guys do when you're stuck?

It worked, I have quite a few sketches. Now just to put them all together!

Can't wait to see what everyone does!

I wish I knew what to do when stuck.....
Sometimes I watch TV or do chores
Sometimes I look at other art
Sometimes I go back to an unfinished work
Sometimes I play with the cat
Sometimes I go to sleep

You left out "read", "play with the gf" and "drink." Those always work for me.

If I am in that situation, I walk around the neighborhood and get the oxygenated blood flowing to the brain in more substance and it usually works. Sorta clears my head and I can get to solutions easier.

lol Bill.

Looking at other people's art helps a lot. Doing simple exercises when you haven't used a medium in a while is a good idea.

When I'm really stuck for an idea I just keep thinking about it while doing other things and I have worked out a lot of creative problems while waiting for sleep at night.

I do like to do trivial things in my sketchbook with CP when I am stuck. I find that doing CP pics when my painting has a case of the uglies is a good thing, yes. Makes me appreciate how much easier it is to do backgrounds in paint.

Yep, I know I forgot "read", but I always get lost in a good book and no artwork gets done.

My big project this year is improve my environments in my paintings.

My big project is to finish all the unfinished projects not just art wise but crochet wise too. I have enough unfinished blankets to warm a house full of snowmen.

LOL..I'm finishing mine up over the weekend...I'm very happy with it so I have to be careful and not get too egocentric and screw it up!!!

I'm also looking forward to everybody else and their work too.

I'm done with mine too, but I'm still glad we have to wait till the 24th.
I always wanted to give us a some extra time, the other WC Challenges are earlier and it gives us a little extra time, in case someone is working on those also, sometimes the extra time is needed, sometimes not.

No calendar shaking! I swear, the earth is spinning faster and faster all the time, and the clocks are magically speeding up with it.

I don't even know if I'll get around to doing this, but I should try since this actually fits with an idea I've had for some time which involves two different types of creatures interacting in an environment.

I'm trying to get to those unfinished projects too, but also have stuff to do in the yard. And I'm always so tired, happens to me every September since my son was born at the end of August seven years ago.

Looking forward to seeing it!

Seven year olds I seem to remember being fun, but then, I was just the dad.

Re: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat! September 2017

This has been a busy busy month, no calendar shaking!

I was going through some of the photos from my time away. This is one of the neighbors. I thought she'd fit right in this forum.

This is an annual end of summer parade. Isn't she cute!

What a photo! Not only does her hair match the umbrella but also the car in the background.

Bill, after giving birth, for a good month or so it was like I had a sleep disorder. I would start nodding off in the middle of a conversation. I don't know about other mothers, but I was totally exhausted. They say the body has memory and I believe it. Every year at this time my body remembers being tired and figures it should be again. I think this year it's a little better.
