        :cat: HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE:cat:

It’s 5am & I woke up at 4am. Heard a weather message from my phone about freeze warning. I went out & brought my Mums up on the porch under cover. Yes our weather forecast is going to be horrible for today with rain, high winds & temps dropping like a rock all day. It’s getting very foggy out now.

I’m goign to my friends for a visit this morning & then home to putter around here. I need to make sure we have something to eat if our power goes out from high winds tonight. I think that getting some chicken salad at the local deli & some crossiants would fit the bill.

Well I’m going back to bed under warm covers till daylight.

        Take care everyone

        Good Morning all,
It is 5:20 a.m. here in foggy and dark Oakwood. Chilly too as Anita said ^^.

Today is our daughter Kari’s birthday. She was due on 1 November but decided to come a day early on Halloween.

Had a really busy day yesterday, but did manage to get our flu shots. No side effects at all.

 to all who are on their way and Doug and Anita. :D

            Good Morning All.

Mice, we have woodmice and the occasional shrew they look so cute.
We had one that collected sunflower hearts from under our old cats nose.
These seeds were cached in a dry stone wall it survived a severe winter.

We baby sat at my sisters old stone cottage and as the evening went on,
mice began to appear on the huge stone fireplace, pretty soon there must have been almost a hundred on or in every ledge and stone niche.
The following morning I investigated and found a shallow duct from outside to the fireplace which supplied air to the fire when it was in use. No metal grill.

We now have three cats Sweetiepie, Hobo cat and a large white with a moustache.

            Good morning Anita and Sylvia.

As far as Halloween is concerned it is a case of Bah Humbug here, we don’t celebrate it. Just another commercialised event resulting in a mountain of waste.

PS Good morning Rob, a hundred mice

Good morning, Doug, and all who follow.

I took some time out to have a nap yesterday, which did me a power of good and I’m enjoying a peaceful morning’s lie in today as I’ll be up early for the next two. We’re having little GD to stay for two nights and I’m not sure if she has gotten used to the clocks going back. We’ll pick her up from nursery this afternoon and she’ll go to nursery tomorrow and be picked up again for a another sleepover. She’s staying until Saturday lunchtime, but I’ll be at the John Harrison workshop all day so this will give her a chance to practice twisting her Grandad around her little finger. She’ll be back on Monday so she and I can have a catch up.

Later this morning I’ll be painting small wooden “slices” and some pebbles to make Christmas tree decorations. I’m in a women’s group that every year enters the local Christmas Tree Festival. We almost always make the decorations ourselves during an evening of craft activity, and this year we’re painting. I’m using acrylics. I hope they turn out OK.

I’m hoping the sleep deprived among us can manage a snooze today, and all those suffering from aches and pains can find some relief. It’s getting chilly here in the UK so we need to build ourselves up.

Take care out there on the hill,

                QS

Morning Doug, Anita, Sylvia, Rod and QS! Morning all, to those who wash up later, and huggles to all who need them :grouphug:

A cold but bright start here this morning, and I’m keeping everything crossed that it stays fine for my outing to the dentist later this morning.

Nice things arrived in the post yesterday – my painting magazine, another small empty palette (I’ve discovered it’s much easier to cope with and mix the colours I’m using, just transferring the colours I’m using to the small palette rather than grappling with the large palette of W&N colours), marzipan for the Xmas cake, and some new decorations, as well as a spiced ginger cake mix (I’m determined this year that I won’t be frantically trying to find everything Xmas – 2 days as I usually am).

I finally finished the poppies last night! :D Once my meds have kicked in and I get my PC fired up I’ll take a photo and post it..

                    Rachel

Wow, lots of you turned up while I was writing. Morning Anita, Syl and Rod. Don’t mention mice! We’ve been waging war on them since Febuary and we’re not sure how they’re getting in. I have to remind OH that setting them free in the garden just means they come back in!

I’m hoping no one rings the bell tonight and disturbs GD. She’s too little to understand Halloween. We haven’t had many guisers in recent years so I’ve stopped buying sweets.

PS Hi Rachel, which magazine did you receive?

                        Good evening everyone.

Long day here. I had a Greeter training this morning for three hours, got bus home, and sorted out a new shipment of jewellery.

My Christmas cards arrived, yay, will be mailing them next week/month. A friend of mine orders 12 printed cards from me every year for her Christmas cards. This year I had them printed at Office Works, they did a fine job.

I made a pressure cooker meal for supper. :) Apart for the standing chopping for 30 minutes, it was easy peasy as Chars says. Beef and veg, served on quinoa.

I have just finished a live video on my Jewellery Business page, and I am beat. Early night for me.

                        Night all.

Big hugs for all in pain.

                        :grouphug::grouphug: :heart: :grouphug::grouphug:

Raining! Hence, indoors for the day.

Our outdoor lights will be off and shades drawn this evening.

                                Good Morning!!

It has been raining all yesterday and will continue all of today right into the evening when the kids go trick or treating, not much fun for them. It will be pretty cool too by the time they get going.

Since a lot of the nearby houses are rented by students the kids stopped coming here and I too will have the lights off just in case one or two decide to come by.

                                It’s Thursday = Cake and Scrabble day:thumbsup:

Char :grouphug: I hope there isn’t too much water leaking into the basement.

Darla, could you please explain how you did your leaf painting. Ava and Ethan are coming over tomorrow to paint with me, I was going to do an easy landscape but the leaf thing would be fun. i.e. on watercolour paper??? do you weigh the leaves down while they are drying?? I guess it has to dry over night, that wouldn’t do any good for my purpose.

Rachel, is it time to check for your poppies yet:)

QS, lots of fun stuff going on with you again. Can we see your Christmas decoration creations???

Rod, a hundred mice coming out of the fireplace:eek:   Mind you, horror of horrors, when I was first married and my husband and I lived in a flat in London I saw mice coming out of there too, still gives me shivers:eek: You are a cat magnet!!!

                                Sylvia, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Kari!!!!!!

 to you JJ, Doug, Anita, Bill and running late Annie!!!

Happy Halloween!! We gave up giving out candy for lack of kids. We had too much leftover candy, so we stopped doing it for our health.

The sun is shining, but the temperature was 32 degrees when I woke up at 8:30. We have a few errands to run, but it will be warmer when we head out the door. I actually figured out how to load the washer and dryer myself using my handy reaching claw that we bought for my mother. It comes in so handy, and it has stood up for over 10 years.

Amy has her second show hung at the Pisano Hotel in Marfa, Texas. The reception will be tomorrow on All Saints Day. Could not have selected a better day to show all her paintings of the saints. Today the local paper ran a story and an announcement. So excited for her.

Hope everyone has a great day!

                                Good Morning again,

Larry went out for his walk with our biggest umbrella because it has been raining pretty steadily this morning. Look what he brought for me that he found on his walk:

I put the ruler in so you could see how big it is. Anybody know what tree it came from? Larry thinks it might be a sycamore, but isn’t sure.

Bill and Uschi, we too will have our outside lights off tonight. Plenty of people will be handing out candy, so the kids won’t miss us.

I have a nice memory of Halloween when we lived in Ankara. We were the only Americans living in our apartment building, everyone else was Turkish. One Halloween, a young Turkish girl who was about 12 yrs old knocked on the door and was delighted to choose an American candy bar. She said “teşekkür ederim” and smiled and left. A little while later, we had a knock on the door and the girl was back with her little brother. We smiled and let him choose a candy bar too. BUT, what was unusual, when she said “thank you” again, she held out her hand with a Turkish candy in it for us. Wasn’t that sweet.

Ah Char, so sorry the water is coming in your basement again. Hope you aren’t too exhausted from cleaning it up. :(

 to all who were here between my visits and those who are still on their way.

Nancy, well done to Amy. We gave up buying sweets for the same reason as you.

I’ve just finished doing one side of my decorations. I’m going to put something simpler on the back. We’ve been asked to do both sides as they are inclined to spin round when hung on the tree.

                                    Here you are Uschi,

They are supposed to be “rustic”.
