I think it is a brilliant piece and your colours are amazing. Possibly just a tiny bit more softening of each colour segment in the sky so they don't look so separate but it depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you are after a less photo realistic and more dramatic looking sky then it does work the way you have done it.

Soften the hard line in cloud, define tree on right so it is noticed..

Re: "Quiescent Waters"

I think it's a beautiful and relaxing piece that soothes the eye. My only thought is one of a focal point. I can't find one, although my eye does enjoy wandering around the painting to explore the details.

Re: "Quiescent Waters"

Thank you for the feed back everyone I can see where it there should have been a bit softer color transition, I think the focal point is the white building / house though. as far as the tree on the right not standing out I think that gives this piece character not knowing where the branch shadow comes from.

Thanks again everyone,

Bruce

Re: "Quiescent Waters"

I didn't even notice the house..but now that you mention it..
If the white in the water is the reflection of the house, I think much too large for that small house.
Now that white spot is grabbing me eye..

So is the R tree stump & branches shadows or reflections, or the actual stump with branches attached?
I'm just asking because it is hard for me to figure it out.. with how it blends in the with background land..

Re: "Quiescent Waters"

The lighter color on the water is a reflection of light threw the trees.

The reason you do not see the tree is it blends with the black land in the background, all you see mostly is it's reflection this is why I chose this photo reference because of how it makes you really look at what is going on here.
