This is the third entry of this particular dog (both were in the Animals or Acrylics forum) since I started in WC. She passed away a week ago and I painted this as a gift for the owner. There is a WIP in the Watercolor Studio which I just finished in the challenge for painting with cheap paints…which includes me. My wife is allergic to acrylics so I’m making the switch to watercolors…but have to look at the options.

Jon – that’s a beautiful study of a much loved dog I imagine. I feel sure the owner was so pleased to receive this endearing painting in Layla’s memory. The eye nose and mouth are so well painted and this type of dog always seems to don an air of gravitas! Your background hills and water are well painted too – there but not dominating Layla. Well done.

                    Mike :)

Wonderful painting. I think we’re all learning that it’s not the paint but the painter!

Beautiful, Jon! I think you’re making the transition to watercolors effortlessly. What a treasured remembrance of her owner’s furry family member.
