08 01 2018 challenged hyacinths n brushes mi

thanks for refs Kay, I tried the 5 min challenge on the hyacinths, watercolours n aqua pastels in grot sketchy, A5. as ya can see, me grot paper really don't like the wet!

I also tackled the brushes in aqua pastels, haven't used them for ages. did them over an old watercolour turned sideways, one I started and never finished, I do love a bit of up cycling. A3 size.

Thanks for joining in Scatty! Lovely vivid colours in the hyacinth picture, it's great that you did a whole painting in five minutes! I just love the painting of the brushes, great idea to use an old painting and the detail you've given the brushes gives the picture a real 3-dimensional look.

Great job on both, especially the brushes. They just pop and the metal gleams in the light.

I like both! The idea to use the old painting for the brushes works very well!

Wow, your quick hyacinth painting is amazing! Great details in so little time.

Your brushes look so realistic and I love that you painted them on an old painting turned sideways. Really made my brain wonder what was going on.

Cool hyacinths, Scatty, despite cockling they're so bright and lively. Love what you did with the brushes across the old painting, that makes it perfect! The old painting becomes part of the brushes painting, a backdrop to the tools. That's just so cool.

They are great. Love the brushes and Like Smurnof always says "Bet you never thought of it that way but you will now" I am referring to turning your old painting sideways. I will remember that, what a great idea. I have Smurnof name spelled wrong I am sure. Did you get your Christmas card yet?

Good use of colour in the hiacynth sketch to suggest those rich violet hues. The brushes are well done too, the old picture makes a good ground for the subject.
