Cathedral Rock - Sedona AZ

18x24 heavy 246lb linen paper. Done in a loose impressionistic style with an intended lean towards semi abstract. Done using a 1 1/2 inch angled trim brush from Home Depot which I also use for my interior and exterior house painting.
I have to say it is not as loose as I intended so I may go back in and generate some additional looseness perhaps with a palette knife.

The sky is the typical SEDONA AZ BLUE SKY.

Table Mesa is wonderful! I love how so much of the composition is pure blue sky. Wide open spaces!

Cathedral Rock is a WOW through and through! Colors are brilliant, textures are stunning. Outstanding!

Abandoned Homestead- Llano de San Juan NM

18x24 heavy linen 246lb linen paper using Chroma Interactive acrylics applied with palette knife and big brush. Llano de San Juan is an old Mexican farming community. Most residents have left and most structures are abandoned & falling into disrepair. Recently efforts are being talked about to bring the town back to life again.

I like these last two in Sedona and NM. The colors are so rich and gorgeous. Takes me home. :-)

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Well you have brought them back to life in your painting, Richard. I love the progression of the foreground all the way back to the beautiful blue mountains. Stunning colours as always!
