Three ages of man (woman)

The three ages of man (woman) is a fairly popular theme in fine art.

I will post a couple of examples from art of the past. Then some photos for inspiration on the theme.

For Practical art, try any of these:

1. You may like to concentrate on one age group for your painting.

2. You may feel ambitious and try your hand at all 3 ages in a painting or drawing.

3. You may like to copy the Klimt or Giorgione works.

Looking forward to seeing the art!!

Also, if you come across artwork on the web on the theme... please post links.

Happy painting!

You may prefer to browse for your own stimulus photos. Or perhaps you have family photos which would inspire a painting on the theme.

Re: Three ages of man (woman)

The WDE this weekend had people and I did a watercolour of one of the senior females posted. Here she is.

I also have a child and an adult from the recent WDE's. But I haven't managed to think of a composition on all 3 ages of man....yet!!

Re: Three ages of man (woman)

Sandra, your 3 sketches are perfect for the topic. I love the elderly woman...you caught her expression wonderfully well! The contrast with the fresh-faced child is really good. Do you think you'll come up with a '3 ages' composition in one drawing?

Perhaps we should extend this to a 2 monther!!
