Re: 2010 challenge and exchange

Nope, I haven't even started yet. I have four commissions to do before I can even think of it.

Re: 2010 challenge and exchange

My board is about 75% finished. I may change my mind and do another after I find out who I am sending to. I will just have to wait until the 10th to see.

Re: 2010 challenge and exchange

Man I am beat. I got into scratching last night and next thing I know its 3am and I had to get up in 3.5 hours to get to work. It's looking great but I had a nagging thought sometime between 2 and 3 am. For those that are exchanging their work across borders, will there be any issues with customs or taxes?

I would not think so as there is no money exchanging hands. I am no expert though!

Re: 2010 challenge and exchange

I found the answer on the internet ironically. For those that are shipping their art to Canada it must have a declared value of less then $60 to avoid paying tariffs or taxes. So.... a little fudging on the declared value might be in order. Here is the link to the information for anyone thats interested.

Re: 2010 challenge and exchange

Well, we'll find out in a couple of days whom it matters for. I've already done my work as I don't know any of the members. I hope whomever gets mine enjoys it.

I don't think there should be any duties or taxes involved when shipping across the border to the US or visa/versa. I am pretty sure if you declare it as a gift to the recipient they can't charge you any duties or taxes. For insurance purposes you can value it as you like. But this is what I have done in the past and it has worked.
Any body else have any input?

Wendy

Re: 2010 challenge and exchange

Ok, I've actually done a preliminary draw which I will adjust if we get more entries. Deadline is tomorrow here in Australia.

I did the draw by printing out two sets of names, one set into a bowl and the other set was set out in order, firstly of people who already had art from others (the most first like a couple of have lots of your art), and the rest in alphabetical order.

From tomorrow I will pm you all your recipients' addresses. There are 31 to do so it will take a while but hopefully I can do them all on the one day. If you haven't received an address by the 12th, please pm me so I can find out if anything went wrong or missing. I've triple checked things (in the draw, two people were going to receive their own work so that needed to be fixed ) so hopefully no mistakes.
