What a beautiful collection of scratchboards, Ann! Your dogs are especially good.

Re: "Down on the Farm" Show - WIPs
Thanks, Kat & Jenna!
Most of the scratching is done on this one now, although I do need to put some more light in his face and work the area around the whisker spots better. Then I'll color it and add the whiskers.

It's looking good Ann. Color will only add to it.

Re: "Down on the Farm" Show - WIPs
Thanks Kat, Margaret & Harold!
I got impatient and had to start coloring. I wanted to see how it would look. I was worried that I'd screw it up and yet, I didn't bother trying it on a scrap board. Nutty, I know. But I like where it's going in the few spots where I've added color (collar, eye and his adorable liver-colored nose). Now that I've taken that that little side trip, my curiosity is satisfied and I'll finish the scratching, then scan it.

Re: "Down on the Farm" Show - WIPs
Thanks, Allan! Yep, sometimes you just gotta take a little detour.
Now he's all scratched, except for the whiskers. I used the Derwent Inktense pencils to color his eye, nose & collar. I kinda like it this way, but I do want to color the rest of him. He's a beautiful palomino color with a white blaze, throat and chest. His ears are a deeper color. I'm totally biased, but he really is a handsome boy
Here's a close-up:

Re: "Down on the Farm" Show - WIPs
Thank you, John & Diana!
I've colored the sunflower (with Inktense pencils). It certainly changes the look from the crisp contrast of the black & white, but I like it and I think it will appeal more to the general public also. As scratchers, we can appreciate the beauty of black & white, but I'm not so sure everyone else does.
Having said that about bw vs. color, I'm going to hold off on coloring the rest of Arrow. I really like it the way it is and it took on a life of its own and made me go more detailed than I had planned! I'll color the border collie (since I over-scratched parts of it for that purpose) and continue with the rest of the series before I decide what to do with Arrow.
