Re: favourite software for digital art

I'm using SAI for most of my digital artworks. It's easy to use and fast. Other programs were included when i got my (wacom bamboo) tablet but i found them hard to learn. After my drawing is done, i edit it again in PhotoFiltre (a free software for simple photo editing)

After a few 2D drawings/paintings over the last few years, i wanted to go further and try other things, such as 3D so i downloaded meshmixer and sculptris but haven't tried them yet.

But what i really want to start doing is called matte painting -- not sure how to explain it, but google is our friend -- so i'm starting to learn SketchUp, another program for 3D, mostly architecture and wide scapes rendering.

I'm a oil painter by formation and long practice but, with time, i find it harder to work at the easel for too long. I still want to create images so digital is the way to the future for me.

Re: favourite software for digital art

I use Affinity Photo (Adobe Photoshop equivalent) and Affinity Designer (Adobe Illustrator equivalent). They are wonderful pieces of software, extremely powerful, and with a low one-off payment to own them rather than a monthly subscription. I'm in love since I bought mine

Re: favourite software for digital art

wow this threads starts in 2002 !

Anyway, currently I'm still using Corel Painter 8 (yes that goes back to almost 2002 too hehe).

I also really like Krita

I also recently fdound this relatively new software called Paintstorm Studio and I really like many of the brushes and ability to alter brushes as you go

Hehe ... attached a pic of random brush testiing

I use gimp (because GNU so why not), but also Maya. Maya paint has to be one of the weirdest tools ever-- not very functional in a lot of ways, but has the coolest brushes I've ever seen in my life.

CorelDraw and Photopaint. Mid-range price and does everything all of the others do, and sometimes does it better.
