Photoshop information requested

I am considering phtoshop for digital art.
My impression is that there are plenty of brushes but are they really only basically air brush variations?

I have been using Corel painter since painter 11 but would consider the change now that photoshop are dong an annual subscription whereas Corel call theirs upgrade!

Please advise if you are a photoshop user you ideas

I would also look at Clip Studio Paint and ArtRage. Both are around $60-$70.
