April 2019 Watermedia Challenge

It's April already. Time for a new Watermedia Challenge. It's a pleasure to be your host again this month.

You are invited to submit your work based on these reference photos any time you would like. Newbies are especially welcome.

These photos are from Pixabay and Pexels, royalty- and citation-free. Many thanks to the generous photographers who made them available.

We're all looking forward to seeing your work. Happy painting!

Have fun, everyone! .. CP

Joy, looking forward to your artistic take on it. The first photo, with the pier, sky, and water, I'm sure was digitally doctored. But I'm a pushover for bright colors and strong contrasts, so I couldn't resist. Happy painting!

Great ones!
I thought the first one was digitally manipulated at least. Are the smaller ones any larger or is this it? Hard to see detail in the street scene.

Re: April 2019 Watermedia Challenge

Sorry about the size. I was surprised to see how shrimpy they turned out; they looked OK in my photo program.

I've stretched them, but the resolution is not great. If these are good enough, could Kay or Vivien please move them into position and toss the old ones?

Thanks ... CP

Sandee, you're quick! So lovely!
I'm traveling so can't move them unless Viv can do it.

Re: April 2019 Watermedia Challenge

Thanks Cali ,Kay & Coldpress, this took around 3 hours to paint. watercolour pencils are great for achieving misty effects. I started with the misty background & worked in more colour as I came to the mid & forground.

Sandie, that is wonderful and very "moody". You are gifted, indeed.

Re: April 2019 Watermedia Challenge

ColdPress - I think we might leave both the smaller and the larger versions of your photos. I'm finding it quite good to see both sizes, as it's interesting to compare them.....I can see various things in both sizes that members might like!

Sandie - What a super, moody, misty painting! Shows your skill with watercolor and pencils perfectly. Love it!
