Paper Wasp

7x9.5 watercolor and ink line (Micron 01 pen) on paper in Ecosystem sketchbook done a few days ago for a new Facebook group of animals in watercolor. A wasp was this week's prompt. I had just killed 3 wasp nests at my studio so it was most appropriate. What an evil face!
C&C welcome

Re: Paper Wasp

Eeek. Great line and wash of the wasp Kay. There is something so immediate about line and wash. Love it.

Re: Paper Wasp

I think wasps have fascinating faces. An unlikely subject for a painting and I think you've done a great job.

Re: Paper Wasp

My fave part is the excellent use of varied shapes for the negative space and composition.

Re: Paper Wasp

Interesting view of a wasp... I got stink by one recently and was very painful...

Re: Paper Wasp

Thanks Kay, Joy, and Fed!
They do hurt pretty badly and I've put an ice cube on the sting to lessen the pain.
