I’m teaching myself the Moku Hanga technique of woodblock printing and in pulling my first prints, I’m seeing gaps between the color blocks when the paper is registered properly. I’m wondering if there is anyway to fix this without carving a new block.
Did you cut too much wood away from the color blocks?
If yes and if it is on small area, you could cut away e.g. rectangular piece of the block, glue new piece of wood there, level it and re-cut the faulty area artwork.
Alternatively you could maybe use wood filler to fix the problem areas, but most probably it does not work with the printmaking inks. It would need to be porous like wood, but most wood fillers aren’t porous at all.
