Re: Viviens STILLMAN AND BIRN experiments

Back to using paint today.

I did 2 sketches in oil paint and this mixed media one in the lovely A4 S&B alpha

It was done as a demo in class, for those who braved the snow, to show watercolour with a little oil pastel, coloured pencil and gouache.

I will add the oils tomorrow.

It was from memories of beautiful light on the way home from class last week. A flock of birds took off in a blur of movement.

Beautiful. The blurred birds really give it a feeling of motion.

How lovely. . . did you use the oil pastels as a resist?

Re: Viviens STILLMAN AND BIRN experiments

Yes I scribbled white oil pastel To create some of furrows in the field, Then used different coloured watercolours over the top, Letting them run into each other. The oil pastel pops through.

Vivien, the patients are poignantly drawn. I like your seedheads too. Very freeflowing.
