What I find remarkable is the speed at which you work. The amount of practice that's gone into that ability!

Thanks, you're probably right about practice. All the rigging on this was done free hand, not particularly accurate, some a bit thick, and some probably not attached to anything. I think, for something this size and a spur of the moment painting. It works. Using rulers, maul sticks etc adds time and of course accuracy, and for a large (important) painting they are a great tool.
Self C&C. If starting again, I would have made the Schooner about 3/4 the size, although there were some quite large ones. There were also some quite small Frigates. (That's my excuse anyway) I think the boat could be a bit longer, but Schooners didn't carry a selection of boats like the bigger ships, however I should be able to sort that before I turn the page for the next one.

Thanks. This was a bit 'spur of the moment', I haven't painted for a few weeks, and a book,I was reading triggered this one. A late start meant it went in to two afternoons.
