White Value Study Subjects?

Could someone upload some photos of white spheres, cubes, cylinders, cones, etc. with strong directional lighting? If possible, could you do the same object(s) with the light coming from different angles? I think it would be really useful for beginner value studies and getting a feel for light/dark patterns on basic forms.

Also an easy thing to set up at home with what you have on hand. Two eggs on a large white sheet of paper. Set your lamp up at one side/angle to create shadows/ strong light source. Draw or photograph for reference.

Re: White Value Study Subjects?

It's also actually better to learn to draw from life!
a) make a 'light box for still life set-ups - any sizeable cardboard box, no front, covered inside with white paper (later add coloured background paper) - a hole in one side of the box allows you to shine a light through at differing angles.
b) coat the inside of different bottles and glasses with white paint ..... add any white objects you wish.

c) coloured lights give interesting shadows!

I've always liked the egg study still life with white or gray background.
You can always get various size toy balls and spray them white with spray paint.
I don't like the styro-foam ones due to texture.

Re: White Value Study Subjects?

I remember back in the old HS art classes, that "any old object" plus a can of matt white spray paint went a long way to building a white on white study. Hobby lobby has tons of wood/paper mache type objects that can be spray painted if you cannot find enough shapes at home.

UHN: yep and we also used to take little model train buildings made of plastic and painted them white ( houses and such) and set them up to teach perspective as well as value.
