I’m trying to get loose this time. How am I going? Critiques welcome.

Edit: nothing like putting one at side of the other to immediately see things one is oblivious to. Edit2: although colour comparison is futile. My phone doesn’t mach the monitor.

I will say that I’m impressed that you use both very dark shades and very bright highlights. Many artists doint go dark or light enough in a landscape which really limits their range of midtones.

It’s a good start! Layer on some more detail here and there and see where it takes you.

                    I like your colour!
One mistake i see a lot in people learning is they paint right up to the edges of things. If you look at your painting youve done exactly that. Try not to. It will look looser and more appealing.

So far so good! Remember, to squint your eyes and paint the masses.

                        Thank you for the comments!

Raffles, I don’t think I understand what you mean. Could you please elaborate?

Always paint one thing into another and not side by side until they touch.( Quote from JSSargent). Difficult to do because our brain tells us not to(childhood school art learning). This looseness will create much harmony and energy.

                                I learned something new today

A good and wise artist is always able to admit it when they need help and gladly accepts it when it was given. 👍 😊

                                    Well done!
