Re: Weekly Drawing Thread

Perhaps it could be more of a "sketch" challenge, sketches can be completed a lot more quickly and if people wanted to take more time to complete a "drawing" they could.

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread

I will try to participate if it's a monthly challenge. I draw too slowly for a weekly challenge.

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread

The thing is that if it's specifically a sketch, then people will not necessarily do their best work which means the critique won't be of as much value. At least that's how I would view it. The point is to challenge yourself to do something fairly well or perhaps push yourself to do something a bit harder than you might ordinarily choose in order to build some skills and confidence without the drawing being a "production" piece with the pressure that can come of that. So I wouldn't be looking for a completed drawing so much as an attempt to do something you find a bit difficult and see how it all comes out.

That's how I would see it anyway .. do you all agree or would you prefer something that would be quicker and more, well, sketchy? I'd like for this to be along the lines of what y'all want (I'm southern ... so I can say that) rather than what I might think. I can go either way but I want this to be of value to all y'all ...

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread

I don't mind either way but you are right that doing something to push ourselves would be of more value for those of us who are still learning.

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread

It is, of course, not to say someone could not do a sketchy drawing if they wanted to ... perhaps they would want to do several drawings that month. The critique would be balanced with that.

Re: Weekly Drawing Thread

Sounds great. I often find a challenge is painting something I'm not used to. Looking forward to next month.
