Unhappy Photoshop Images Look Dark Online - Please Help!

Hello, I have been losing my mind over this problem: Whenever I save images in Photoshop CS6, they appear darker and with more contrast online.

I am using Windows 7 OS and have calibrated the monitor to the best of my abilities.

NOTE: My Proof Setup is set at sRGB and my Color Settings are set at sRGB aswell. I Convert Images to the sRGB profile, and when I Save For Web & Devices, I make sure JPEG, optimized, and convert to sRGB are selected. My Preview is set for Internet Standard (sRGB).

The images look good in Photoshop and in Windows Photo Viewer, but when I upload them to the internet, they look very dark and hard on the eyes. They look like this when I check them on a Mac. Another weird thing is that when I open the same images in Microsoft Paint, they appear dark aswell, whereas those images looked good in Windows Photo Viewer and Photoshop.

Help would be much appreciated!

Oh, you can sharp the Dark area with PS. I usually do this with photoshop watermarks. It's the best photo editing choices.

Another possibility (besides the one provided in the link) is that the site you are posting your images to is automatically compressing the images. Ideally compression should only affect the size (and perhaps cause slight pixelation) but some website's compression and/or conversion do strange things like mess with the contrast, saturation, and brightness.

you can also fix this issue with MS office picture manager to compress, brightness, resize it.

you can also run a one step photo fix on it if there is one in photoshop for a quick fix.

Re: Photoshop Images Look Dark Online - Please Help!

I've been posting images on the internet for years, and I don't recall ever having saved an image in the "save for web" mode.

If doing so is causing so much trouble, just don't do it. There are so many ways to reduce a file on your own in Photoshop, by using the functions in "resize image", that I can't imagine every having to tolerate all this "web" stuff.

I'm not much of a computer nerd, so perhaps I'm missing something, but I've posted images quite successfully for years, on all sorts of sites, and I've never used "save for web".
