Re: perched hummingbird

Thank you. I was fortunate to be in the right place with my camera, just as the light was kind. I've made it into cards and gave one to the lady who owns the house where I took the shot (the background is her front stucco-like wall).

Yes, I try to sell them. Not too successfully , but I try.

[Sorry-replied to wrong post.]

Re: perched hummingbird

Nope, not the wrong post. I asked but then realized you were talking about selling them in the other thread so I removed the question. Sorry for the confusion. Is the perched hummingbird for sale online somewhere? I know nothing about buying cards anywhere other than Walmart, nor do I know much of anything about how people sell their work independently.

Re: perched hummingbird

missmeangreen:

Thanks for the explanation; I was starting to think I was imagining things. Although one local reseller is carrying the hummingbird card, I haven't yet put the image on my website. When I do it'll be available on cards and as prints of various sizes, with the card priced lower than the reseller's price since I won't have him taking the middleman cut. (So if you know anyone interested, please tell him/her to be patient a little longer.)

Lorell:

I wasn't allowed to stay for the judging, so I don't yet know who won what. As soon as I learn the results, I'll pass them along here.

Re: perched hummingbird

I finally got a list of the award-winning entries. Neither of mine impressed the judge enough to receive an award.

But maybe one will sell - that'd be good.

On the subject of canvas prints, a new CostCo is opening tomorrow in Huntington Beach (lots of opposition to it, but all the city saw was interested in was $$$). Anyway, CostCo does gallery wrapped canvas prints for less than half what I paid, so I may have them do a small one and see if the quality is good.

Re: perched hummingbird

When I call one of my photos a "favorite", I print it up in an 8X10 at Costco. The quality of their printer is excellent. I also have a Sam's Club that I use, however, their printer is not as good. I have been dissappointed with the Sam's club images.

Re: perched hummingbird

Lorell,

I'll definitely check out CostCo's photos. But not for several days. Today is their opening here, and reports are that they expect a HUGE crowd.

Deb,

Thanks. I've adapted the image into several different styles of notecards. And I just confirmed that my favorite framer has re-opened, so I'll probably have it matted and framed similar to a good suggestion from another WC! member.
