Simple ink sketch studies for a story book

This is Clown-Dog who is a character in a book project named “Tales from Dark Woods Holler”. My first illustration in the book was to feature three characters with a doggie being one of them. The wife and I had just so happened to have acquired a new doggie that is very clownish indeed, so he became the inspiration for a character that I call “Clown-Dog “in the book.
There, I just did my part and added a post to this forum.

Re: Simple ink sketch studies for a story book

Thanks, for the comments. This little project is a bit out of the norm as I’m not publishing it in the traditional way. I am printing the episodes of the story on 5" x 7" greeting cards. The illustrations are printed on the front cover and the story line is printed on the inside the half fold cards of each episode mail outs. This is a nonprofit affair at the moment, as the story is being written as I illustrate. I embellish the interior of the cards using character rubber stamps that I carve as the story unfolds. I’ve accepted a few donations for postage and materials, but most of the cost and labor is on me. At the moment I’ve got about a 60 person data base, and believe me I’m maxed out. I try to send out the episodes out on a monthly basis. At present episodes 1, 2, and 3 are done and sent out. Numbers 4 & 5 have been transferred from the sketch to the watercolor paper. Like I said, this little project is a bit out of the norm, and yes, I am crazy.
