WDE Dec 13 - Bubble Xmas Tree

just got a pad of Strathmore Black Mixed Media paper and thought I'd try it out with the Christmas tree. it is quite heavy (184 lb) and is probably better suited for wet media. i will have to try some gouache on it, but this is pastel and white charcoal pencil. not a lot of tooth to the paper, but more than the black Artagain paper i usually use for this type of drawing.

4 1/2 x 6". about an hour.

That works well on the black paper, Mike! Love to see you do some gouache on it, too. Very festive!

Cool! Cool! Cool! Agree that the media works on this paper and gouache would also be cool to try

Wow, a great solution to the challenge! Playful and fun. The globes are beautifully done. Shadow at the bottom is really effective. Well done, Mike.

Oh, that's pretty Mike ... good idea to use the black paper too .... agree that the solidity of gouache on this paper would probably work nicely too.
Thanks Mike.

That has captured the delicate decorative tree. The stars are a good addition.

Re: WDE Dec 13 - Bubble Xmas Tree

Really pretty! For some reason when you said Bubble tree, I was thinking of the old fashioned tree lights that were candle shaped and had liquid in them that bubbled upwards when they warmed up. These are very nicely done globes - love the openess that lets the black show through them!
