Does anyone have experience making their own turps can/jar that can hang from a pochade box or tripod? I'm thinking along the lines of the Holbein type, but the small one is $65 from Blick!! I have some air tight stainless food containers that would work well, but I'm not sure how to attach a hanger of some kind. Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Re: Ideas for a turps can

I have been very happy with the Anderson BW380 / AN380 brush washer. $26 from Cheap Joe's. We have three of them. They are all 100% leak proof. One of them rattled around under the car seat, upside down and laying sideways for several days on dirt roads and not one drop leaked out. Just keep the gasket and the mouth of the jar clean and free of nicks / dents.

Thanks Ronnie, I don't know why but I always forget about Hobby Lobby! I found one on amazon that is $18, but I'll check Hobby Lobby.

Re: Ideas for a turps can

I wonder if this one on amazon is airtight. Many of the cheaper ones leak, but this one has three clamps which should do the job. It is quite a bit smaller than most I have seen which is good for a lightweight setup.

contumacious, I would definitely buy that, but I'm looking for something bigger. The one from Cheap Joes is a good size for me.

As noted previously we own 3 of those and they hold plenty of juice for studio or outdoor work for us. I don't think you will be disappointed.
