Full respect for the man who ran with no legs whether he won or lost. That took guts and extreme fortitude and then people tried to say he had an unfair advantage!

Here in South Africa, where he is affectionately known as "Blade Runner," he is something of a national hero. Our foremost caricaturist, usually given to rather merciless satire, for once drew an admiring picture:

Re: Go Great Britain in the Olympics

Absolutely an awesome achievement.

It's been a good two weeks, with great crowds and even though the ticketing was less than it should have, they at least tried to put it right.

Let's hope they don't ruin it with the closing ceremony with musicians that are way past their sell by date. I think the spice girls singing there is a joke but Beckham has a lot of influence at the games I hope they don't embarrass the whole country.

you haven't been drinking while you were watching have you ??? they were as bad and tacky as ever !!

nice to see the who and what is left of queen though !! roger waters was ace but both queen and waters were let down by (although good ) inferior vocals for the music

but all in all a superb show and at least we didn't have to put up with the spice girls for too long ( even thier original teeny bopper fans must have cringed a little )

Re: Go Great Britain in the Olympics

It would have been the perfect stage for Freddy Mercury. I would have liked to hear more of his music.

It must be pretty hard to try and fit everything in over such a short time. I even liked Damien Hirst's artwork On the other hand, I always did like his artwork.

Now it's the time for those from different cultures that have struggled with trauma unknown to most. They have overcome to become some of the greatest athletes. I hope the coming paralympics surpasses what I have already seen.
