Re: Geekette's Sketches from Life
Thanks Joan, RainySea, vhere and Debby!
Been trying to catch up lately - I've managed to get two drawings done since friday.
The first is one of my lamps, a bit of a challenge to get the feeling of light across, and because it's entirely white.
The second is my teapot - another challenge: it's entirely black, with a cream coloured wrapped handle

Re: Geekette's Sketches from Life
These are both done well. White and black objects are hard to render.

I ike the warmth of the lamp sketch, I think you did very well in capturing it.

Thanks Joan, Debby, eyepaint and bookscorpion!
I'm glad to hear that my (semi-) regular practice is starting to show in my drawing ability.

Re: Geekette's Sketches from Life
A few more updates, but I'm not sure they're as successful this time.
First is another simple still-life, my pencil case.
Next are two little landscape sketches from another trip to the cottage. The first is a branch study done on the Saturday of the long weekend. There was a clear blue cloudless sky that made a perfect backdrop for the branch of one tree that hangs out over the river.
Lastly, this one was done on the Sunday from almost the same spot as "the view upstream" from my July 4th post, except facing the other direction. It was grey and overcast, so I'm not as happy with this one.

Re: Geekette's Sketches from Life
All sketches are good, if only to learn what does and does not work. The branch study is stunning. Keep sketching.

Re: Geekette's Sketches from Life
what a fabulous assortment of sketches, love the little coloured ones, but my fave so far is that black teapot with it's wrapped handle, beautifully done. Hope manage to keep to your resolution and fill your moleskin with these gems...

I love your pencil drawings most of all. I like the style very much.
