Re: cactus

I think is pretty cool. I think you formed the shapes well with the shadows, sounds simple but I believe it is tough. I know nothing about Cacti. What species is this? Gary

Re: cactus

Gary, thanks.
I don't know the species. I think it's one of the hedgehogs, and still pretty young. I do not remember either flowers or fruit on it, I don't know how tall/big it will get. I don't know anything about it. I think I got it in one of those tiny 2" pots someplace. If it is a hedgehog, it's in the echinocereus genera.

It's not a saguaro-- that 's a baby saguaro under the yellow hose attachment behind the model-- prickly-pear, or cholla! (The hose attachment is providing protection/shade for the baby from the hot sun. That shades it before noon, the wall after noon.

Re: cactus

Good job on this prickly cactus! You did very well with creating a better setting for it, too.

Re: cactus

That's a good painting of a cactus. Yes some kind of hedgehog.
Now living near Sonoran Desert, so I will be posting my efforts at SW plants one of these days.
My camera broke. All I have is a phone for images.
