Pamela, this is going to be a stunning board when you are finished. You do know that animals get that sort of light blue haze on thier eye if they are blind in it? Sound like this old gal may only have one good eye. Remember if you loose the dish on her face she will look like a black bear, I know you already know that.

If you want to wear your sorels to an art opening, it wouldn't bother me at all.

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

It's looking really good, Pamela.

Have you ladies tried either white Chacopaper (available at Michael's) or Saral...(it's cheaper and comes in a roll...more bang for the buck) I get it from Blick's...comes in several colors...I use white. Neither have wax and both stay put until you want to remove it...I use a damp brush and blot with a kleenex to "erase" it. If all I've done is an outline drawing transfer, I even save it and reuse it. They're my favorites of all that I've tried.

thanks for the progress update. Excellent work on the bear's muzzles - I too like the way the skin scrunches up against the wood.

These guys are going to be stunning!
To transfere a drawing I just rub the back with General's white charcoal then trace it. sometimes I've used a light colored conte but that tends to be too waxy.

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

Got a bit of an update! Having trouble getting anything done with all the goodies showing up in here but did get some done yesterday!
Mark I took a close look at the eye on the ref pic and I think its just the reflection of some reflected light...hard to say I'm not working off a high res. photo and those eyes are soooo tiny! Doesn't matter I'll resolve it somehow! Will go in with some washes to bring back the disk shape more and need to add depth in shadows etc. yet its lookin kind a flat now. Definitely in an uninteresting phase right now!

Thanks Lorna I have to look into getting some! Just use what I can get here in my local supply and they just have the one kind.

Thanks Patrick... having a of a time with all that matted hair, lots of it too. Still experimenting with it, it will come eventually I guess.

Thanx Rich I like the nose too, You have to be so careful on a grizzly nose. I think they must be made of rubber they can contort them so much. I want to be able to relay that without making it look offside or just being drawn badly, I'll have to fiddle with that too!

Thank-you TJ, love getting those tips! will look for that one too!

annamelia: thank-you...like I said to Patrick this is turning out to be a challenge with the textures in the fur....Question is it fur or hair on a bear? maybe a stupid one too I don't know!

Ltainia: If I get into town anytime soon I'll pick some up for you! I'll get your addy when I have it to send!

Thanx karen: Maybe not so lucious now but hopfully when their done!

Thanks for dropping in guys & girls...

Re: Mama And Cub Grizzlies Wip

Pamela, I had the pleasure of watching two 10 month old bears romping around at the Indy Zoo on Sunday with Rod and Cathy. It was a ball, you would have loved it.
Seeing what you've done so far, and the images freshly in my mind from Sunday.....I'd say You're on the right path!
It's gonna look Great!

Thanks Allen (Ace) which do you like better? I would have loved the trip to the Zoo. Haven't been to a zoo for 11 years... use to go quite often when we lived in Calgary and the kids were small.
