Unhappy Re: Artist vacations for this summer?

The words 'vacation' and 'tuition' do not go together. The vacation is usually one for the so called 'artist' and his family to go on holiday whilst he or she spends a minimum time with those unfortunate enough to pay for the experience.
If you must go, find out exactly how much time you will be painting, how much time you will receive tuition. Then work out the value.
I have only been on two such excursions, both tremendously worth while, but talking to others on the same venture I learned that there are very many rip offs.
The real answer is to 'paint' 'paint' 'paint'. Organise your own excursions to places you want to be.
Sorry. I sound negative. But this is a question I feel strongly about.

Re: Artist vacations for this summer?

In response to the question in general, a couple of years back, I booked myself on a cruise that hit 7 different Caribbean islands. I left the boat each day with my easel and paints in a backpack, got a taxi, and painted at a different spot each day. It was wonderful....(except for that guy with the machete in Antiqua...seriously that did happen, who eventually walked off and left me alone). I did leave having companions might be a good idea!!
