Still life with peaches

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Still life with peaches
Year Created:
Medium: Oil
Surface: Canvas
Dimension: 12x16
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
I have such a hard time Painting fabric. To me, this fabric just looks dull. I canít figure out how to make it brighter. Also, there is a basket in the lower left co<br>er but it is practically invisible. This whole painting just seems dull and dark to me. Iím posting two pictures. The reality lies somewhere in between the two. Iím having a hard time capturing the color and not getting a glare on the canvas.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
1. I would welcome any thoughts about how to do this fabric more effectively.
2. Also Would appreciate feedback and criticism on whatever strikes you!

Thanks!

Re: Still life with peaches

The angled aspect of the table & objects feels off to me..but it is well done.
The shadows on the peaches seem weak compared to the pitcher shadow. I thought they were apple until I read the title.. maybe a bit more yellow/golden on them. might be just the peach colors I am used to seeing around here tho..

The single small object doesn't really add anything, I can't tell what it is..odd numbers of it might work better.
I've never tried cloth, but I think yours looks nice. If you want parts of it brighter maybe layer a few highlights on?

Re: Still life with peaches

The peach on the left is slightly tapered towards the bottom, it might be why I thought apple vs peach..

Re: Still life with peaches

Joy, thank you for all your comments! I see what you mean about the fruit. Fortunately that should be enough to correct - unlike the angle of the table! Oh well - too late about that part. Itíll just have to look like itís about to tilt off the side

KolinskyRed - thank you for the corrected image! I couldnít get away from the glare yesterday!
