Of course the longer I look at it, the more things I can see to fix, which is not a bad thing! Just things I know I can touch up later, or to keep in mind for the next one. I was really happy with this one though. I have trouble with still lifes a lot of the time. It seems some artists can just take any arrangement, throw a light on it, and portray it beautifully in paint. Me, not so much. Sometimes certain arrangements just don't work out so well for me, weather it be the color combinations, composition or what, it just doesn't excite me once I see it in the paint I put down. This one really felt good to me though.
I'm also learning that subtlety is so important. I think a painting can be so much more interesting when lots of the color and value changes are very subtle. I am always going for huge contrasts and complimentary colors. Sometimes just being subtle and being able to make a medium contrast look extreme in relation to the rest of the painting is key. I think I could have been a lot more subtle with my use of reds in this one. Also my greens are WAYYY to saturated, alot of them anyways.
