Wonderful Find , Richardson Hand Rolled Pastels

Today, I had a chance to tour Richardson's Handmade Pastel factory and outlet store in Kimberly, Wisconsin... The pastels are buttery smooth , vibrant, and at 25% off new sets of full sticks, its a steal. If you have a chance to ever tour the factory or visit the outlet shop, I highly recommend going into the budget room (as they call it) you can get half sticks (full size broken in half) for a buck a piece and broken Sennieler pastels full sticks for 1.50 a piece. I may have just found a piece of heaven just a 30 min drive from my home.

Sooooooo jealous! But I'm happy you were able to score such wonderful pastels for a bargain price.

I would probably have to be dragged out of there at closing time ... "just a few more minutes!" I hope you find any and all excuses to go visit again!

bartc Unfortunately they do not sell direct online, only at the physical store itself

Here is the link to the explanation.

Wow, nice! Haven't tried them, but at that price it's hard to argue.

Kpmac, the stars must be shining on you!

Yes, undoubtedly it was worth it as I cannot find a 72 piece starter set of Unisons online for less than $277. May you do wonderful things with them!

I think we all need to go on a field trip.

You'd never have to "convince" any of us to go there 2 days in a row!!

John

If you watch Amazon you can get some great deals. Got 72 set of Unisons Tricia Taylor set for $68 plus $22 in shipping from Jackson's. Not sure if fluke or currency changes but this happens quite often. Also Jackson site will occasionally let you buy Senn full sticks for $1.70 each. When this happens 120 set about $80. Hope this helps!

Re: Wonderful Find , Richardson Hand Rolled Pastels

What lucky finds, KPMac. Too bad I live in Georgia. Perhaps you could become a "personal shopper" for each of us here?? I recently purchased a set of 24 Richeson Handmade pastel half sticks to give them a try, and like you, I find them delicious! I think they are very similar to the Unisons.... but much less expensive. I see more of these Richesons in my future! As suggested by Palmettocreations (thank you!), I will make it a point to watch Amazon for sales... and also Jacksons, which I love to order from. Happy painting!

Re: Wonderful Find , Richardson Hand Rolled Pastels

I have the Alan Flattman set of Richeson hand rolled and rather like them. :-). I do think their sets tend to be mostly medium values but the texture/softness (as you would expect) is like Unison. I got my set of 80 for $144 on amazon (same set is 195 at dakota). If you watch amazon, some VERY good deals pop up on the richesons. (hmmm...now $143. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ie=UTF8&psc=1). It is apparently shipping from Alan Flatmann’s own store which makes sense since he recommends them on his site and mentions very good prices on amazon...this is who I bought from. FREE shipping).

Mike, consider yourself enabled. ;-)
