This 12 x16 canvas with acrylics is my latest painting. It’s significance is enhanced by its inclusion in my new shop on Etsy, PaintedDesertArtwork. This painting was inspired in part by the occasional sole cactus that finds itself in a small desert basin.

Nice calm color – I would suggest some ground cover and/or a couple more cacti. It’s not very often a “lone” cacti is found in what appears to be a vast amount of barren desert. Good texture on the rock structures & light & dark areas as well. Nice watery sky.

I’m with aspenman on the lone cactus, but sort of fun concept. I like your textures and the technique on shadows. I am conflicted on where the light source is. Lovely overall look. I’m smiling.

Nice sky! And overall great sense of sunset atmosphere. The cactus is a bit confusing in regard to the scale of the cliffs/mesas…those cacti get what 10-15 feet tall?…..therefore making the mesas seem really small in height, like just big rocks. I hope Im making sense :)

Very calming and soothing to look at this painting. I do agree with the others regarding the cactus, but I like this just the same. Wonderful sky – you do have a gift for painting skies!
