Re: Frontal Passage

Nice painting, a retro style I have seen in old books, the grey mood of the water instead of the blue we are sued to make it look like a storm is coming.

Re: Frontal Passage

It’s wonderful. It has a Cezanne-esque quality with the heavy darks outlining elements. I happen to love the subdued palette, save for the vibrant clouds which pop in contrast. Very well done.

Re: Frontal Passage

Thank you both for your comments. In this piece which was done plein air for most of the effort, a storm front had just passed. Believe it or not, the sky and the water are pretty true to the actual scene, or as close as my very limited abilities could make them. Thanks for looking!

Re: Frontal Passage

Well painted!! Interesting palette, colors working together to create space very nicely.
To me, some of the greys in the clouds seem a little dark in value making them come forward.

Re: Frontal Passage

great composition! the grey water with the strong yellow is compellingly good, looking at it is like solving a puzzle, with the tiny boat bringing calm and direction. great job!
