Rebecca Rabbit

I call this little one Rebecca the Rabbit, or Becky the Bunny for short. 😉
She and her partner showed up in my garden the other day. In exchange for letting them munch away at my garden plants, they posed for some lovely photos.
This is painted in acrylics on a roughly 4" wood round taken from a tree we cut down in our back yard.

Ah, that has a lovely feel to it. Like fedetony. I also got an "Alice in Wonderland" vibe.

Re: Rebecca Rabbit

Very sweet. We’re they escaped domestic rabbits, or wild ones?

Re: Rebecca Rabbit

Absolutely charming. Nice work on the eye. Can't be easy achieving detail on a rough surface like wood. Have Rebecca and her partner come to stay? Won't be many veges left if they do.

Re: Rebecca Rabbit

Thank you all!
This was not intentionally inspired by Alice in Wonderland, but I am a big fan of Alice and her adventures, so maybe it crept through!

There are a lot of wild rabbits in our neighborhood, but they are mostly small, brown and more timid so I think these may be someone's pets. One of them returned and spent the weekend supervising my gardening efforts.

My neighbor has quite the buffet of vegetables. It both surprised and delighted me to see that they were in my yard, mostly eating weeds!

Very nifty. I love the unusual coloring and the wood round.

Re: Rebecca Rabbit

Thanks Kay and Ginny.

They keep coming around. I checked the local pet lost and found ads, no one seems to be looking for them.

Beautifully painted and the surface is perfect for this subject.

Re: Rebecca Rabbit

Lovely painting and a I love the way you've painted it on the slice of wood.
The rabbits must be escaped pets, but they may have decided to stay with you in your oh so juicy garden!
